Blogging is a great way to build up your brand. You’ll want to remember that the way you write will have a large impact on how your audience perceives your company. It can be a bit of a challenge to know what is appropriate for your blog. It’s common for businesses to focus on more formal, authoritative writing. However, this isn’t going to win you any personality points. Customers today don’t want to be sold to. They want to build up a relationship with a business and see that they are dealing with actual human beings.
So, if you want to build up your brand via blogging, you’re going to need to learn how to express yourself correctly. Here are a few tips to help you express yourself via blogging.
Ok, so when I say introduce yourself, I don’t mean at the start of every blog post. What I mean is including a short bio on each blog post. Most bloggers will have this short bio on the sidebar, like I do, but others may prefer to have a signature or closer section at the end of every blog post. Be sure to include a photo of yourself, alongside a short backstory of who you are. This lets your audience see exactly who is behind the content and who they are corresponding with.
This simple step can seriously enhance audience engagement. It also helps you to build up credibility.
It’s important that you sound like yourself. This means letting go of any preconceptions you have about the type of voice that a blogger should use. Blogging is all about expressing your thoughts and opinions as authentically as possible, so don’t be afraid to give it your all!
Adding your own voice to the blog makes it much more credible. It’s also going to resonate more with your readers. Don’t forget, you’re trying to stand out from your competitors. Your personality is the one thing your competitors don’t have – so use it!
However, it’s equally important to ensure you’re writing in a voice that resonates with your readers. Your personality will only get you so far if the content you’re producing isn’t relevant to your audience.
People just don’t want to read through a mountain of text anymore.
They want to know the information in bite-sized pieces (to go with everything else they do on their phones!). I recommend using visuals like gifs, videos, and memes. Visuals help break up your content and make it more interesting.
Did you know that storytelling is one of the most powerful ways to communicate with people? It’s true! When you tell a story, it will not only capture your reader’s attention, but it will also show them who you are as a person and help them connect with your brand on a more personal level.
You can even tell stories which relate to your own experience with a common problem in the sector. When crafting any of your blogs, you should focus on trying to tell a story with a clear beginning, middle and end. I wouldn’t making these stories too in-depth. Keeping them short and concise will ensure the reader remains engaged.
Although you do need to be careful when voicing your opinions in business, that doesn’t mean you should shy away from them completely. Providing your own opinions on issues within the sector can really help to set your blog apart. It’s also what can encourage your readers to keep coming back for more. As long as your opinions aren’t offensive, they can be an effective way to express yourself through blogging.
If you follow the tips above, you’ll find it easy to express yourself via blogging. The tips featured will also help you to ensure your readers remain engaged in your content. The more unique you make your voice, the better it’s going to be for your brand.
